12th Annual Gala & Silent Auction

Internationally renowned entrepreneur, Kwame Jackson, delivered a stirring and challenging speech to a sold-out and appreciative audience at the 100 BMOS’s 12th Annual Gala at Savannah’s Hyatt Hotel on Saturday, April 19, 2008. The net proceeds from the Gala and the accompanying Silent Auction are used to support the 100’s “Four for the Future” youth programs - education, mentoring, health and wellness and economic development.
The occasion also honored the graduating seniors of the Savannah 100’s Youth Leadership Academy – Christopher Adams (Savannah High School) , MeKia Davis (Jenkins High School), Ivory Harding (Windsor Forest High School), Rossana Stewart, II (Jenkins High School) and Patrick Wright (Groves High School) – each of whom received a $1,000 scholarship in support of their higher education.
Paul Hinchey, President and CEO of St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital was awarded the Community Service Award by Savannah 100 President, Henry Lee Perry, for sustained furtherance of the partnership with the 100 Black Men of Savannah and the Savannah community. Treasurer, Robert D. Davis, on behalf of the membership of the Savannah 100, presented the Trailblazers Award to Bertram Scott, James Saunders and Lloyd A. Johnson. Lamar Lawrence was also recognized for his outstanding work in almost single-handedly organizing the Gala. In addition, Special Awards were made to Linda Doswell for her continued work with the Savannah 100’s Youth Leadership Academy, and Silent Auction Committee Members, Connie Johnson, Tammy Boler, Leah Thompson, DiAnette Broadnax, Alethea Raynor, Valerie Thomas and Monique Lawrence. Special thanks are also due to to our Silent Auction consultant, Janister Herring of NeCe' Designs, for her invaluable assistance.
